We believe most people like to get out for a run or walk to simply clear their head. So we believe in recent years our "Walk 4 head space" was the perfect addition to our event program and to peoples lives. In 2020 we have chosen to tackle an issue that in fact is a major contributor to kids mental health and that’s BULLYING.
The walk is created to link in with our charity partner Bellarine Community Health Youth Services, as whilst not everyone enjoys running, most can cover the 4 km course and reap the mental benefits.
$20 from all entries to the "BULLY BUSTER 4 KM" will be donated directly to Bellarine Community Health Youth Services who facilitate the local headspace program on the Bellarine. (Children 12 & under can be registered for free)
Why 4 km?
1 in 4 young Australian's between the ages of 12 & 25 will be live with a mental health issue, and of those only 1 in 4 will seek help. So if a 4 km walk can highlight these stats and make more of society aware that's a good thing.
The Bully Buster 4km will start from Bellarine Sunset Run HQ behind the Port Pier Cafe @ 6 Pier St Portarlington and will start immediately after the half marathon. It will make its way in the opposite direction to the runs heading 2 km towards Point Richards along the Bellarine Coastal Trail passed the caravan park before turning back to return walking with a view of the Portarlington Pier at sunset. The terrain is a nice flat unsealed gravel trail suitable for strollers, children and the elderly and on course we will have water hydration stations and course marshals to help make your walk more pleasurable.
